Abstract

This dataset comprises Sr-O-C-N isotope data from 139 unique modern human individuals from the Netherlands, compiled from four studies published between 2015 and 2024 (see Ammer et al., 2024) and adds valuable data to previously submitted modern human data from Plomp et al. (2019). Together, these data represents the first comparative dataset of Sr-O-C-N isotope data from modern human enamel and dentine in the Netherlands. The dataset brings together data generated using different isotope systems and dental tissues, providing a reference framework for investigating geographical provenance, mobility, and dietary variation. The dataset is particularly valuable for forensic applications, where isotope analysis can contribute to assessing the geographical origin and mobility history of unidentified individuals. It supports the interpretation of isotope measurements from forensic casework and facilitates comparison with modern human reference data from other regions.
